MapMania 2026 - Mapmaking Competition

MapMania 2026

MapMania 2026 is a competition between map creators for Unturned. Lasting a full month until October 1st, map makers can collaborate in teams of up to three to win the first, second, and third place trophy cosmetics.

Here is an interview with Cucuycharles, the organizer of this year's MapMania:

"What drove you to organize MapMania 2026?"

I'm a person who enjoys creative ventures. While I'm not the most skilled at it, but I can admire people who have been creating and refining their craft into what it is today. I know that the Unturned community has one of the most vastly creative group of individuals. I wanted to give those people a goal with this years MapMania. A competition to see what this community can do with a topic like "Minigame". I chose that topic due to the lack minigames for Unturned within the steam workshop. Seeing as not much ground had been broken I decided to make it this years topic.

"What do creators get out of this competition?"

The winning teams will be awards Gold, Silver, or Bronze skins depending on there placement in final tally's. Besides the skins for first, second, and third place creators will hopefully get a fun experience in map making and creating a project. While people might not find that tangible I've noticed that creators usually look back with fondness on there previous work when it comes to event's such as this one. People who patriciate in this years MapMania, excluding those who won, might receive a participation gift of some sort. If you know anything about the previous MapMania participation awards you might know what that might entail.

"What are you looking for in submitted projects?"

I'm honestly not going into this event expecting a specific thing. I plan on Judging this event based on the rules laid out this year. However I do expect to see something that really catches my attention. I'm unsure as to what that would be but it would probably be something that makes me say "wow, I didn't think of that".

"Will players be able to experience the projects submitted?"

I hope that anybody that wants to experience these projects can. I don't want to gatekeep anything and I want people to be inspired by the creative work that is made for this event.
